图书、档案等文献资料是人类社会活动历史留下的宝贵的信息资源,在信息社会的今天,如何科学管理和充分开发利用这些信息资源,使之为我们的经济建设和科学研究等多方面的工作服务,是一项科学性、知识性、专业性较强的工作。随着时间的推移,文献资料数量越来越多,门类越来越复杂,管理文献资料的难度也越来越大,靠手工管理和利用文献资料越来越不方便,且直接利用原件也不利于文献资料的长期保存。因此,只有利用现代科学技术,实现文献资料自动化管理,才能提高文献资料的管理水平,满足人们对文献资料资源越来越高的需求。
