The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Oli Mackie are both important works in the history of American literature. The protagonists Huck and Ogi are all characteristically resistant poor street children. Resistance led them out of their shackles and onto the adventurous journey of freedom. However, under different times, Huck and Ogi’s resistance and pursuit have different outcomes and meanings. Therefore, the two characters have different typical meanings: Huck is the product of the abolitionist movement in the capitalist ascent period, the pursuit of freedom Symbol of the new culture, while Ogi is a victim of the alienated world and a model of “anti-hero.”
