从宜丰县城北行23公里,就是天宝古镇。古镇历史悠久,早在商周时期就有先民居住。上世纪八十年代以来陆续出土了商周时期的青铜、大铙、钮钟、编钟等器具。东吴至唐,曾在此设县治达150年之久,世称“古宜丰县治”。繁华富饶造就了天宝纵横交错、气势宏伟的古村落。古镇面积两平方公里,有三街六市,东南西北六座城门,十三第宅,四十八条巷四十八口井,体量大,布局合理,其规划设计全受邑人——北京元大都总设计师刘秉忠思想的影响,堪称江南一绝。
