【新浪科技】北京时间5月4日下午消息,LCD液晶技术的主要发明人之一乔治·海尔迈耶(George Heilmeier)于4月21日在德克萨斯州Plano去世,享年77岁。海尔迈耶的女儿表示,他死于中风。液晶技术的发展使得电视墙和便携式计算设备成为了可能,而这些设备已成为当代生活不可缺少的一部分。2006年,海尔迈耶获得了日本京都奖。两年之前,他还与他人一同获得了美国工程院颁发的德雷珀奖。这两个奖项被认为与诺贝尔奖有着同样的分量。
SAN FRANCISCO, May 4 (Bernama) - George Heilmeier, one of the leading inventors of LCD liquid crystal technology, died in Plano, Texas on April 21, at the age of 77. Heyer Meyer’s daughter said he died of a stroke. The advances in liquid crystal technology have made television walls and portable computing devices that have become an integral part of contemporary life. In 2006, Haier Meyer won the Japan Kyoto Award. Two years ago, he also received the Draper Award from the American Academy of Engineering along with others. Both awards are considered to have the same weight as the Nobel Prize.
