　　A day before a New Year, there came an old beggar. An old woman gave him some food.
　　Beggar: Thank you.Could you tell me why the other villagers hide in the mountain？
　　Woman: They are afraid of “Year”. I can’t climb upthe mountain, so I stay here.
　　Beggar: I can help you.
　　Woman: Really? That’s great!
　　On New Year’s Eve, “Year” came into the village. It foundred paper on the doors and heard loud firecracker sounds.
　　Year: How do they know I am afraid of firecrackers and red color? I must go away quickly.
　　Woman: Oh, you are afraid of red color and firecrackers. Ha, ha！
　　“Year” ran away quickly.
　　From then on, all the Chinese people like to set off firecrackers on New Year’s Eve. And this become a tradition.
