The Japanese government outrageously claimed that it had "purchased,"thus "nationalized" the Diaoyu Islands on September 11,2012.Taiwan has long maintained that "whether looked at from the perspective of history,geography,geology,practical use or international law,sovereignty over the Diaoyutais indisputably belongs to the Republic of China (Taiwan)."1 And so Taiwan is an indispensable player over the Diaoyu Islands dispute.The Ma Authorities issued a strong response to the farce of Japan' s "purchase," which not only exerted an impact on Japan and on the Mainland China,but also attracted international attention.
