引言在过去的四年里,对于美国大陆地壳及下地壳岩石层的地震学研究比过去任何同期内完成得都多,而且不断增长的研究活动大概会持续数年。几种趋势说明了这种现象。首先,最初由美国大陆反射剖面合作集团(COCORP)的研究结果(Brown and others,1986),后来又由英国反射剖面研究协会(BIRPS)的研究结果(Matthews and Cheadle,1986)所引起的对地震反射研究的兴趣已经导致了几项其它地震反射计划的制定。这些最有效的研究计划有:怀俄明大学(Smithson and others,1986)、弗吉尼亚工业学院(Virginia PolytechnicInstitute)、美国西南部地壳构造研究加州各大学联合体(CALCRUST,Henyey,1986)和美国地质调查局(Hamilton,1986)的计划。
INTRODUCTION Seismological studies of the continental crust and the lower crustal lithosphere over the past four years have been completed more than any other period in the past, and the growing research activity is likely to persist for several years. Several trends illustrate this phenomenon. First, the results of the study by COCORP (Brown and others, 1986) and later by the findings of the British Association of Reflection Profiles Research (BIRPS) (Matthews and Cheadle 1986) The interest in reflection research has led to the development of several other seismic reflection plans. The most effective programs are: Smithson and others (1986), Virginia Polytechnic Institute, crustal structure study in the southwestern United States CALCRUST, Henyey, 1986 and the United States Geological Survey Hamilton, 1986).
