Objective To investigate the relationship between gliosis,synap ti c reorganizat ion and the mechanism of chronic epil epsy induced by pentylenetra zol kindling in rats.Methods Pentylenetetrazol(PTZ 35mg /kg intraperitoneal injection,daily)by kindling rats,expression of GFAP and NCAM by immunohistoc hemi cal staining between control group a nd drug group.Results During PTZ-kin dling of rats before t he occurrence of spontaneous seizure c onfirmed by behavi or and EEG,hippocampus appeared reactive gliosis and plasticity of neurons,mai ly in the CA 3 subfield and hilus,distinctively c ompared with that without using PTZ(P <0.05).Conclusion The injecticn of pentylenetetrazol can cause reactive g liosis and plasticity of neurons,probably form the abnormal discharge circuit, finally ind uce the seizures.
