The serial national standards for express delivery services have been implemented for half a month, but many consumers complain that the express service is not improved at all. Regarding this, currently the domestic express does have no improvements and it needs at least 10-15 years to standardize the express delivery sector, said Liu Jianxin, Executive Director of China Logistics Society, in an interview with the Financial Channel of chinanews.com.
According to Liu, standardization is a necessary development trend for the express sector and it also serves as a means to upgrade the industrial service quality and level. At present, the difficulty for implementing standardization lies in the fierce competition in the express sector, which is still in its infancy for development, Liu pointed out.
Both the cost-saving and high-end express deliveries have no way to avoid the current high costs. Oil price, corporate operation and management expenses as well as labor cost are all rising, determining that the overall cost for express delivery tends to rise. However, Liu warned that the express delivery cost could not be raised too frequently and too fast, otherwise it would violate the law of the market and thus harm the development of the express delivery sector.

The introduction of the new national standard is to adapt to the standardized development of the express delivery sector. However, it still needs a long time to earnestly implement the new national standard and to make it recognized by both the express delivery companies and consumers.
