冰球是冰上对抗性竞技项目之一。运动员着特制冰刀、护具,手持球拍力争将球击入对方球门的一种冰上集体运动项目。由于在快速移动中竞争激烈,有助于培养勇敢、坚毅、机智之品质,很受人们喜爱。冰球比赛每队20人,场上双方各6人,其位置分工为守门员、左、右后卫、中锋和左、右前锋。冰球比赛场地为最大长61米、宽30米;最小长56米、宽26米。四角为圆弧状的矩形场地。四角圆弧的半径为七～八点五米。冰场四周有界墙,高度为一点一五～一点二二米,除了正式标记的颜色以外,余下界墙全部为白色。球门的垂直高度从冰面算起一点二二米。两门柱内侧相距一点八三米,球门深不得小于60厘米,亦不得大于1米。球门支架后应覆盖球门网,以便把射进球门的球挡在门内。
