编者按:整个世界都在准备迎接新年。在这个时刻,印度洋发生了令人震惊的海啸。突如其来的灾难,使所有有关2004年重大国际事件的评选都显得太过匆忙。它几乎只用了一瞬间便唤醒了人类关于洪荒的记忆。在大自然的暴怒面前,人类所有的力量都显得不堪一击。十几万人没有等到2005年的来临,他们永远和这个新年差4天。在2004年的12月26日嘎然而止……我们无法对这样的人间灾难表示漠然:我们为死难者哀悼,为生还者祝福,我们也为整个人类的平安而祈祷。
Editor’s Note: The whole world is preparing for the new year. At this moment, there was a shocking tsunami in the Indian Ocean. The catastrophic catastrophe made all the judgments on major international events in 2004 appear too hasty. It awakens the human memory of the prehistoric life in almost an instant. In the face of nature’s rage, all human power is vulnerable. Hundreds of thousands of people did not wait for the advent of 2005, they will always be 4 days off from this New Year. We came to a halt on December 26, 2004. We can not afford to be indifferent to such human catastrophes: we mourn for the dead and blessings for the survivors, and we pray for the peace of humanity as a whole.
