目前,在我国翻译队伍中,人数最多的是科技翻译工作者,与目前市场经济联系最直接、最紧密的也是科技翻译工作者。然而,不少科技译文的质量不高。造成这种现状主要有两方面的原因:一是由于懂得外语的一般科技人员翻译水平不高;而更主要的则是由于不少外语专业人员缺乏一定的科技知识底蕴。专业知识在科技翻译中是非常重要的。国内曾有学者做过这样一个精辟的比较:如果说文字功力是文学翻译的基石,那么科技专业知识则是科技翻译的基石。俗话说,隔行如隔山,如果译者对所译资料的专业内容一无所知或知之甚少,那么他就不可能得心应手地进行翻译,他的译文极有可能会出现以下几种病症:译文不准确、译文不充分或译文不地道。
At present, the largest number of translators in our country are those who work as S & T translators. The most direct and closest link with the current market economy is also STI translators. However, the quality of many scientific and technical translations is not high. There are mainly two reasons for this situation: First, the translation level of general science and technology personnel who know a foreign language is not high; and more importantly, many foreign language professionals lack some scientific and technological knowledge. Expertise is very important in technology translation. Some domestic scholars have done such an incisive comparison: If writing skill is the cornerstone of literary translation, then scientific and technological expertise is the cornerstone of science and technology translation. As the saying goes, interlacing like a mountain, if the translator knows little or nothing about the professional content of the translated material, then he will not be able to translate it with ease, and his translation is most likely to have the following symptoms: Inaccurate, poorly translated or not authentic.
