This review summarizes the progress of neurophysiological studies on neuronal discharge recorded in the cochlear dorsal horn, inferior colliculus and auditory cortex of the tinnitus-model animals caused by loud sound exposure or injection of salicylic acid and several hypotheses currently proposed .
