In the history of economic analysis, different periods are dominated by various special problems. In the 1920s, for example, international economics focused on the question of transfer - how to transfer large amounts of purchasing power from one country to another - a problem that arose from the debt bondage and the German reparation after the First World War. During the 1930s, the main problem was unemployment. The majority of the history of international economics was derived from the acceptance of Keynesian insights on income determination and its application to an open rather than closed economy. However, in the 1960s, none of the problems predominated in international economics.
