2005年8月31日下午12时55分,杭州17岁的高中女生丁舒珊在一张星图上发现了一颗新的近地小行星。两小时后,美国专家发来了祝贺信,这一近地小行星也获得了FMO项目组的内部临时编号 SW40QY。丁舒珊也成为世界上第二位、中国第一位发现近地小行星的女天文爱好者。
At 12:55 on August 31, 2005, Ding Shu-shan, a 17-year-old high school girl in Hangzhou, discovered a new near-Earth asteroid on a star map. Two hours later, a letter of congratulation was sent by a U.S. expert. The near-Earth asteroid also received the interim code SW40QY from the FMO project team. Ding Shu Shan has also become the world’s second female astronomy enthusiast to find the first near-Earth asteroid in China.
