王先进教授出生于山东菏泽,离孔子故乡曲阜仅几百里之距,这种地缘关系也许是促成先生大半生从事孔子研究乃至卓有成就的原因之一。一先生青年时代先后就读于山东大学、北京大学。由于战乱,名牌大学毕业的他,曾辗转半个中国,先后执教于海南、河南、江苏等处学校,直到解放后,先生才来到曲阜师范学院,开始了他大半生从事孔子研究的生涯。为了表达他对孔子的崇敬之情,亦或为了拉近与两千年圣人的距离,先生毅然取《论语·先进》篇名,改王东野为王先进。天时地利人和,先生在圣人之乡开始和两千年前的孔子对话 Professor Wang Xianjin was born in Heze, Shandong Province, only a few hundred kilometers away from Qufu, the hometown of Confucius.
