Although mucosal melanoma is found in the head and neck of 25%, and in the United States, this tumor is less than 2% of all melanomas. In 1987, 84 hospitals in the United States had only 21 cases of head and neck melanoma. Retrospective analysis of 28 cases of head and neck melanoma of the head of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York City from 1961 to 1993, 15 males and 13 females, aged 23 to 85 years old.
