In this paper, a comparatively confusing measurement index W / T for the measurement means and methods of learner’s writing performance is analyzed experimentally and contrastly. W / T as a measure of language performance indicators, some researchers believe that are fluent language, and some think it belongs to the language complexity. The experiment is based on the writing performance obtained by two kinds of writing tasks performed by two levels of learners under two kinds of time conditions. The W / T and the other four items respectively are indicators for measuring the fluency and linguistic complexity of the language Together for comparative measurement and observation. The resulting measurements show that W / T is more consistent with the linguistic complexity indicator S / T, with occasional fluentness indicators. Further analysis and prudence suggest that W / T as a language complexity index is more reasonable and also conducive to a clear distinction between linguistic fluency and linguistic complexity measurement.
