This article is the concluding part of the second part of Aerospace Week and Space Technology’s special report on electronic warfare. It focuses on new technologies that will have a major impact on the future of EW strategy and system design. These new technologies include microwave / millimeter wave monolithic integrated circuits (MMICs), covert (low altitude - observable) materials and phased array antennas. The first part is published in Aviation Week and Space Technology published on September 11, 1989. The series was prepared by an editorial team led by Philip J. Clas, a contributing editor for avionics. Other members of the editorial team include: Avionics Editor Bruce D. Noordwell, Military Editor John D. Morocke, Senior Technical Editor William B. Scott, Technical Editor Michael A. Doethheim and Stanley W Kandebo, military electronics editor Blake W. Henderson, southeast bureau chief editor Edward H. Corcoran and northeast bureau chief David Hughes.
