According to relevant reports, a large number of new viruses not yet known to humans are spreading in Europe and may be life-threatening without being discovered by people. Like the West Nile virus that is already present in European birds, the Tahina virus is also common in continental Europe and has been found in mosquitoes, hares and birds. Both viruses can cause human encephalitis. The report quoted Erni Gould, a researcher at Oxford University in the United Kingdom, as saying that about 50 people in the UK each year die from encephalitis caused by germs, and less than 40% of deaths can be attributed to a particular pathogen. This shows that these viruses may already be infecting humans and harming human lives.
