石油烃类溶剂在工业上多作为造漆、涂料、油墨、橡胶、杀虫剂的溶剂与稀释剂等大量应用。1970年美国消耗量达13亿加伦。此类溶剂,主要系C_(5～15)脂肪族、芳香族碳氢化合物组成之混合物,诸如:石油醚、脂族石脑油、混合的与正构的己烷、织物酒精、清漆油漆用石脑油、溶剂石脑油、洗毛织品用汽油类溶剂、汽油、矿物酒精等。其组分因芳香族化合物含量、沸程范围、化合物碳原子数、各碳化合物所占比例等
