日本理化研究所宣布已发现了5种中子过剩的新同位素,每种同位素的原子核具有的中子相当于天然存在元素中子数的2倍。 这5种新同位素是氖-31、镁-37、镁-38、铝-40。以氖为例,天然存在的氖-20有10个中子,而新同位素氖-31却有21个中子,理化研究所是在同俄罗斯的联合核子研究所进行国际性的合作研究中,发现了5个新同位素中的其中3个。
Japan Institute of Physical and Chemical announced that it has found five neutron excess new isotopes, each isotope nuclei with neutrons equivalent to two times the number of naturally occurring elements. The five new isotopes are neon-31, magnesium-37, magnesium-38, and aluminum-40. In neon, for example, there are 10 neutrons in the naturally occurring neon-20, and 21 neutrons in the neon isotope Ne-31. The Physical and Chemical Research Institute is conducting an international collaborative research with the Russian Institute of Nuclear Research, Three of the five new isotopes were found.
