This article introduces the overview of a large-scale pressure relief blasting at the Canadian company Noranda Burnswick. Prior to the big blast, simulations of blasting under different conditions were conducted in order to provide the necessary data for the design of the blasting. In addition, also carried out high-precision electronic detonator test and vibration test. Vibration results show that the initiation time of electronic detonator is very accurate, for long delays longer than 6s, the error is only about 5ms. This means that the accuracy has been increased from one-fifth of the normal non-conductive squib detonator to one-thousandth of the electronic detonator. The blasting consumes a total of 15 0 0 electronic detonators, 3550 tons of bulk emulsion explosives, and about 36,000 tons of ore.
