A comparative study on sand dune coasts of Bohai Sea and Mauritania along Atlantic Ocean shows that the dune coast might be an effective example of land-sea interaction,and gives insight on the formative mechanism of this kind of coast.Sand dune coast develops when strong prevailing onland winds blow large amount of sand up from the sea shore;medium tidal range and gentle coastal slope are also the basic factor to improve the development of sand dunes.During the cold phase of Holocene under the Arctic climate influence,it offers a better environment to satisfy all the factors for sand dune development.
