The energy issue is one of the three major issues faced by the contemporary world. With the growth of the world’s population and the rapid expansion of industrial scale, energy consumption is increasing at an alarming rate. In civil engineering, steel and cement concrete are the most basic structural materials. In some industrialized countries, on a national average, each person consumes about 1 cubic meter of concrete per year. Therefore, it is very important to reduce the energy consumption of concrete. The energy consumption of concrete depends on the type and amount of cement and aggregate. From the viewpoint of energy conservation, slag cement and pulverized coal should be used for the preparation of concrete.
