After researching the data by quantitative analysis about 140 pieces of coins of Yan State, the author draws a conclusion that it has some characteristics such as high lead content and low copper content, low tin in general with large fluctuation, the composition of alloy ingredients unchanging as the time going on and lower iron content, etc.. There are many possibilities that tin comes from the bronze junk. Two methods of mixing materials may be used for currency of Yan State, the first is that coppers (bronze + copper): lead = 1: 1, the second is that coins casted by new materials consisted with copper: lead: tin = 55. 5: 40: 5. Those of high lead and low tin, the faint technology of alloy melt and casting become a major cause of the currency quality.
