As the demand for cars and trucks soared, the North American assembly plants of the three largest US car companies are working at full capacity. Ten of the 29 general assembly plants at North American General Motors will work overtime in the near future, and most of them are trucking plants. Dyke’s Chrysler will have 10 of its 16 plants in North America working overtime, and 8 of Ford Motor’s 21 factories will work overtime this week. In view of the better-than-expected demand growth and short selling of popular models, the three major companies in the United States have increased their production forecasts this year and continue to use cash rebates, low-interest loans and other promotional methods.
