英国维多利亚时代的文学翻译成就以菲茨杰拉德的《鲁拜集》英译为代表。数十年来,菲茨杰拉德的英译一直被视为＂意译＂或＂再创作＂的典型,绝少顾及他尊崇源语文本的本质特征。本文以文本考证分析为基础,力图探究菲茨杰拉德为实现源语文本经典再生这一原则而施行的多种独到的翻译策略。认为菲氏《鲁拜集》英译,根据文化传承与经典传播的需求,博采众长,灵活运用,旨在源语文本的生命得以延续,在＂脱胎换骨＂之后依然具有被读者认可和接受的旺盛生命力。
