北京时间8月3日下午2时15分57秒,由美国宇航局、卡内基学院以及约翰·霍普金斯大学共同研制开发的“信使号”水星探测器搭乘“德尔塔2号”火箭在佛罗里达帅i卡纳维拉尔角的肯尼迪航天中心发射升空,飞向太阳系九大行星中体积最小、也是距离太阳最近的成员——水星。这是30年来,人类首次对水星这颗神秘的星球进行近距离的探索。据美国媒体报道,如果一切顺利,“信使号”水星探测器将耗时6年半完成80亿公里的旅途,于2011年进入水星轨道。这将是人类飞行器首次进行环水星飞行。在环绕轨道一年期间,探测器上的7台科学仪器将对水星进行全面观测。
At 2:15:58 PM Beijing time on August 3, the “Messenger” Mercury probe co-developed by NASA, Carnegie College, and Johns Hopkins University will take the “Delta 2” rocket. Launched off at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, flying to the smallest of the nine solar system planets, Mercury, the closest member of the Sun. This is the first time in 30 years that humans have conducted a close exploration of the mysterious star of Mercury. According to U.S. media reports, if all goes well, the “Messenger” Mercury probe will take 8 years to complete a journey of 8 billion kilometers and enter Mercury orbit in 2011. This will be the first time that a human aircraft will fly around the planet Mercury. During one year of orbiting the orbit, seven scientific instruments on the detector will fully observe Mercury.
