Poverty is the most serious problem in the world, especially in Africa. Eritrea gained its independence from Ethiopia in 1993 and has been established for 16 years. In 1993-1997, when the national economy was relatively good, there were numerous challenges since then, such as droughts, famines and wars, making it even harder for more than 60% of the countries living below the poverty line Dilemma, some families can only rely on remittances life. Although the government has taken some measures to reduce poverty, the issue of poverty has not been eased due to the lack of resources and the poor implementation of poverty reduction programs. This article attempts to explore the situation of poverty in the country and provide details of the survey of poverty conducted since the country was independent. In addition, the various challenges posed by poverty are also highlighted and some policy recommendations are put forward.
