麦德龙集团(METRO)是国际第二大超市集团,总部设在德国。麦德龙于1995年初开始进军中国,计划在五年内开设11家大型超市。首家超市(即中国总部上海锦江麦德龙超市)已于1996年10月31日在上海开张。这家超市位于上海市区,在上海至南京高速公路的起点处。占地约4万平米,营业面积1万平米,营业方式为仓储式超市,面向中小型批发商和零售商,推行会员制。其独特的经营方式在上海非常轰动,目前日均营业额近300万人民币,且还在稳步上升之中,已成为上海热门商业点。第二家超市无锡麦德龙超市于97年11月28日开张。今年,麦德龙还将大力开拓上海及邻近地区的连锁商业店。
Metro Group (METRO) is the second largest supermarket group in the world and is headquartered in Germany. Metro began its march to China in early 1995 and plans to open 11 hypermarkets within five years. The first supermarket (ie, Shanghai Jinjiang Metro supermarket) was opened in Shanghai on October 31, 1996. This supermarket is located in the Shanghai area and is the starting point of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. It covers an area of about 40,000 square meters and has a business area of 10,000 square meters. Its business model is a warehouse-style supermarket. It is targeted at small and medium-sized wholesalers and retailers, and implements a membership system.
