1996年2月28日宜宾54级地震的宏观震中位于永兴镇，震中烈度达Ⅶ度，地震等烈度线呈长轴为北东向的椭圆状分布．震区（指烈度≥Ⅵ度的地区）总面积约150平方公里。这次地震共造成1人死亡，数十人受伤，地震总经济损失为5261万元。
