《普通高中历史课程标准(实验)》知识与能力中,希望学生通过对历史事实的分析、综合、比较、归纳、概括等认知活动,培养历史思维和解决问题的能力。在掌握基本历史知识的过程中,进一步提高阅读和通过多种途径获取历史信息的能力;《普通高中历史课程标准(实验)解读》要求学生掌握技能之一是:“……解读图表材料,要能从中发现有助于对历史理解的信息、分析或概括某一历史事件或历史现象的特点和规律等。”
