马来西亚保险业近几年来发展迅速,全国保险基金已从1995年的250亿马元增加到1996年的300亿马元,人寿保险投保人数也占全国总人口的21%。根据这种发展趋势,要达到马国家银行对保险业所订五年计划的目标应不成问题。计划规定在未来5年内马国必须拥有10家到15家资金和行政管理水平都达到世界级的保险公司。 为加速保险业的改革与发展,马来西亚国家银行对保险公司制订了一系列包括公司受投诉次数、发展计划及对保险业贡献大小等在内的奖惩制度。不过,马国的保险业今后仍会遇到许多挑战,当地保险公司应该采取各种措施促进业务发展,并制订寻求自我生存的策略,以便今后开放金融市场时能适应外国保险业进入马国保险市场引发的激烈竞争。
The insurance industry in Malaysia has been developing rapidly in recent years. The national insurance fund has increased from 25 billion Malaysian dollars in 1995 to 30 billion Malaysian dollars in 1996, and life insurance accounts for 21% of the total population.
