Since 1855, the Yellow River estuary has undergone more than 10 major diversions and three diversions since 1950. Due to the repeated diversions of the Yellow River estuary, the tail wagging back and forth, the Yellow River sediment deposition in the estuary a large area (accounting for 20% of the total sediment), forming a modern Yellow River Delta.
