Look at the change in your pocket, and you’ll find that the former presidential heads on the coins are all profiled, with Lincoln on the cent, Jefferson, Roosevelt on the coin, Washington, and Kennedy all on their sides. On banknotes, such as Washington on the one dollar, Lincoln on the five dollar, Hamilton on the ten dollar, Jackson on the twenty dollar, Grant on the fifty dollar and franklin on the hundred dollar bill are all positive portraits. With very few exceptions, the rest of the world is in much the same situation: the coins are flanked and the notes are the frontal image. Why is there such a difference?
