思维的灵活性是指当问题的条件与情况发生变化时,能及时改变先前的思维过程,寻找解决问题的新方法。它表现在善于从不同角度、不同方向来思考问题,能用多种方法解决问题。我们当前的教育就必须培养学生思维的灵活性,促进其创造力的发展以适应新的世界科技革命和国际竞争的挑战。什么叫创造呢?我国教育专家刘伟年曾指出:不要把创造看得太神秘,非要新的科学理论产生才叫做创造,只要有新意思、新想法、新概念、新设计、新意图、新做法、新方法都可以称为创造。他还说:“创造可以从低级到高级,知识少、能力不强的幼儿、少年也可以创造,当然那是低级的,很多科学、技术、文化、艺术上的创造需要有很多知识,很强的能力,那是高级的。没有低级的创造,也就不能发展高级的创造。”
