Theodore Schultz, a professor of economics at the University of Chicago, won Arthur Lewis’ 1979 Nobel Prize in Economics for his contribution to the agricultural economy and the economies of developing countries. The subject of Schultz’s research is precisely the concern in the process of China’s modernization. To this end, correspondents and Princeton University professor of economics, journal editor Zou Zhizhi, made a special trip from the east and the west flew to Chicago for a visit. Professor Zou Zhiyuan came out of Chicago and made an important contribution to econometrics. He and Schultz made a lot of preparations for this visit. The editorial department only thanks readers for representing them. The fundamental task of China in establishing its country by agriculture and in its modernization consists in helping 800 million peasants to get out of poverty. However, exactly how the modernization of agriculture? Is not “agricultural modernization is to buy tractors, you have to steel as the key link, the first development of industry”; “China has a large population, less arable land, agricultural development is a problem;” “Farmers conservative, selfish, very difficult Implementing modernization ”... .... These perceptions make people vague about agricultural modernization. Schultz summed up the current situation and experience of agriculture in various parts of the world and put forward a series of distinctive and different important views for the reference and thinking of Chinese readers.
