The new U.S. law is expected to ease restrictions on federal regulations and open the door to global e-commerce. There is a fierce battle between the White House and the cryptochip vendors and many MPs because the current law forbids U.S. companies from “exporting” any products that contain strong (40-bit or more) encryption. Every company that signs an Internet sign is attracting customers outside the United States, even if the company does not formally label itself as a “global company.” This means that all of the millions of companies, both inside and outside the financial industry, must all launch or abandon the expansion of their e-commerce initiatives.
