Macrophages (Mφ) may release growth factors that act on fibroblasts, vascular endothelial cells and smooth muscle in inflammatory reactions, tissue repair and defense responses. In recent years, some scholars have reported that Mφ secretion of tumor necrosis factor (TNF), has a strong role in vascular regeneration. TNF may play a mediator role in revascularization of activated macrophages.TNF is an active substance released by Mφ or monocytes upon administration of bacterial lipopolysaccharide from day 10 to 14 after sensitization with M. tuberculosis .
