This article first introduced the basic structure of Transputer microprocessor. This is a large-scale CMOS device, it not only has advanced RISC technology designed CPU and high-speed chip memory, but also has multiple serial communication interfaces. The article evaluates and compares the computational performance of a single processor and elaborates on the topological logic network that makes up parallel processing. The article states and discusses OCCAM, a parallel high-level language most suitable for Transputer, and its features. The language achieves automatic synchronization of parallel processing and portable performance between single and multiple machines. The article also introduced several existing Transputer products, and evaluated the performance of multiprocessor systems. Finally, the issue of software development was discussed.
