奈保尔小说《米格尔大街》中的殖民教育被揭示为将殖民意识形态进行再生产的国家机器。英国殖民者的语言文化及其代表的种族和社会的优越性被极力宣扬,被殖民国家的语言文化和历史传统被一再贬抑而被迫处于被压制的从属地位。接受殖民教育的殖民主体在不同语言文化的杂交裂缝中生存,文化界限混乱,对本源语言文化产生自卑心理,并不自觉地内化想要无限趋同于殖民者的驱动力,极力模仿殖民文化。他们表面看来与殖民者极其相似,却只能处于劣等的从属地位。
Colonial education in Naipaul novel Miguel Street was revealed as a national machine for the reproduction of colonial ideology. The language and culture of the British colonialists and the superiority of the race and society they represent are strongly promoted and forced to be suppressed by subordination by the language and culture of the colonial powers and their historical traditions. The colonial subjects under colonial education survive in the crossroads of different languages and cultures, confuse cultural boundaries, and create inferiority toward the source language and culture. They do not consciously internalize the driving force that wants to converge on the colonists indefinitely, trying their best to imitate the colonial culture. They apparently resembled colonialists on the surface but only in a subordinate subordinate position.
