茨威格的一生有33年时光是在第一次世界大战之前度过的,他的理想和信念的形成,辉煌的文学成就的取得,都与那个太平时代密不可分。世界大战剧烈的“地震”把他抛到一种与过去生活迥然不同的生活中去了,他的著作从自己的语言环境中消失了,一生热烈追求的理想和信念化为泡影,作为犹太人又被迫重温犹太民族两千年的苦难史,他彻底绝望了!于是,“及时地不失尊严地”结束了他宝贵的生命。
Zweig’s life spanned 33 years before World War I. His ideals and beliefs and his brilliant literary achievements were inextricably linked with that peace. The violent “earthquakes” of world wars cast him into a very different life from his past life. His writings disappeared from his own linguistic environment. The ideal and belief pursued by his entire life were turned into bubbles. As a Jew Forced to relive the history of the suffering of the two thousand years of the Jewish nation, he was completely desperate! Thus, “his timely and without any dignity” ended his precious life.
