利用起因于断错模式之应力的震磁效应的计算表明,如果地壳具有适度的磁性,在浅震附近,地磁场中将发生压磁变化。在1974年感恩节布施断层地震发生前,美国地质调查所的质子磁力仪台陈观测到令人鼓午的前兆磁变化[Smith 和 Johnston,1976]。然而。因为磁力仪没安置在该地震区域附近,故没有观测到同震效应。测量同震磁变化的目的是为了与理论计算值相比较,也就是为了评价地震预报
The calculation of the seismic magnetic effect using the stress caused by the fault mode shows that if the crust is moderately magnetic, the change of the piezomagnetic in the geomagnetic field will occur near the shallow earthquake. Prior to the Thanksgiving Day Buchstoff earthquake in 1974, the US Geological Survey’s proton magnetometer Chen observed a deafening precursor magnetic change [Smith and Johnston, 1976]. however. No co-seismic effects were observed because the magnetometer was not located near the seismic area.
