This article describes the optimal conditions for the extraction of gold and silver from the arsenopyrite ore from Paredes (northeastern Portugal) by cyanidation. In order to determine the optimal process, whether or not this method requires the pre-roasting of ores, research work should be done to: (1) minimize the number of various unit operations; and (2) to be able to selectively extract gold and silver ; (3) In order to eliminate the pollution, it is necessary to be able to determine a simple closed flow circulation process. The procedure recommended in this work is to crush the ore to less than 36 μm and cyanidize ore that has not been pre-roasted at a solid-to-liquid ratio of 1: 4 and 2 g / 1 KCN. 92% gold, 55% silver and 65% copper can be dissolved, and gold and silver are recovered by adsorption from the solution with activated carbon.
