本文首先从理论上讨论了两种常用的英语习语翻译方法:归化和洋化。然后通过习语教学的课堂实验,探讨了哪种翻译方法更有利于英语习语教学、有利于学生记忆这些习语。通过对学生习语测试成绩的对比分析,发现不同的翻译教学方法对学生的习语学习没有产生显著的影响。但是,分析学生在试卷中所犯的错误,笔者发现不同的教学方法会对学生习语的记忆产生不同的影响:使用洋化法进行英语习语教学可能更有利于学生记忆英语习语中的形象,而使用归化法或洋化加归化的方法则可能使学习者把英语形象记成汉语形象,或者使他们把英语形象和汉语形象记混。
This article first discusses two commonly used methods of translation of English idioms: naturalization and foreignization. Then through the classroom experiment of idiom teaching, it explores which translation method is more conducive to teaching idioms in English and helps students remember these idioms. Through the comparative analysis of test scores of idioms, it is found that different translation teaching methods have no significant effect on idioms learning. However, when analyzing the mistakes made by students in the test paper, the author finds that different teaching methods have different effects on the memory of student idioms: using idioms to teach idioms in English may be more conducive to students’ memory of English idioms Image, and the use of naturalization or foreignization of naturalization approach may make learners of the English image recorded as Chinese image, or to make them the English image and the Chinese image confused.
