Background The Lake Thur Lake Gold Mine is located about 250 km northeast of the Bhupan Club Mine in the northern edge of Abidjan Province, the upper part of the Canadian province of Shieldville (Figure 1). In 1974, Cathay Canadian Petroleum Co., Ltd. discovered gold-bearing sulphide mineralization during the testing of aeromagnetic anomalies with gold steels.
