British MPs pointed out that the UK’s children’s education is distorted by the graduation tests of 11-year-olds. The current education system has narrowed the curriculum and put undue pressure on teachers and students. Last year, the adoption rate of the more stringent 11-year-old graduation test that was newly implemented dropped significantly. The Minister of Education believes that parents have the right to confirm from test results whether children have the math and language skills that pupils should have. However, the Board of Education considers that the tight connection between primary school graduation examinations and school accountability will narrow the scope of the curricula and teachers will teach for the exams and will affect the teachers and students.
