Objective To investigate the significance of detection of serum hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and HBV gene (HBV-DNA) in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and familial aggregation of liver cancer (FH). Methods Fifty-five patients with chronic HBV infection admitted to Shenzhen Medical College of Southern Medical University between February 2011 and October 2016 were selected as the observation group, and 63 FH patients were selected as the control group. The levels of HBsAg, HBV-DNA and liver function were compared between the two groups. Analysis of HBV-DNA and liver function and HBsAg correlation. Results The mean level of HBsAg in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group (P <0.05), and the level of HBsAg in patients with positive and negative HBeAg was significantly higher in the two groups The differences were statistically significant (all P <0.01). The levels of HBV DNA, ALT and ALB in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the levels of total bilirubin (TBil) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group There was statistical significance (all P <0.05). There was a positive correlation between the level of HBV-DNA and the level of HBsAg in both groups (P <0.05), but not with the indexes of liver function (all P> 0.05 ). Conclusion The levels of HBsAg in patients with FH are significantly lower than those in patients with chronic HBV infection, and the quantitative value of HBsAg is positively correlated with HBV-DNA.
