Since the seventies, many writers in the Soviet Union seem to have rediscovered the past. Looking back frequently, they look at the old days with new eyes and explore the origin of the rural spiritual and ethical traditions and the people’s life. They are digging for the spiritual and moral values that benefit today. This tendency is highlighted in those works that recall the early years of home life. Originally from the hands of Russian writers, such works have given rise to strong repercussions and have been further prospered by some minority writers. One of the more representative works is the long, long childhood, a novel by Bashkirya writer Munsite Karim.
